July 2020 Monthly Meeting

First meeting for KQG’s newly elected Board Members. Congratulations and best wishes for a successful year. 

Two new challenges were introduced. Mystery quilt by Sheryl Fowler and Mini Quilt inspired by your birth month by Rachel Peterson. Rohini Desai presented a very informative workshop about “Thread tension on domestic machines”. It was explained how to go about balancing the top and bottom thread tensions, as there are not standard settings, due to a number of variables i.e. threads, fabrics, batting, fusibles.

And no quilt meeting is complete without show and tell.

Manjushree Saudagar mastered the y seams technique at the KQG virtual workshop conducted by Rohini Desai in July.

Raghi Syan has been busy making commissioned baby quilts.
These foundation paper pieced blocks were taught at our guild meeting. The students got to take some blocks home to practice sewing and some members had donated their time to stitch. The block were then put together and quilted by Rohini Desai to make baby quilts which shall be making their way to a deserving home soon.
